He started his professional career at KPMG in Manchester where he specialised in accounts preparation and audit. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993. He worked for KPMG in Barcelona and in industry as a management accountant before entering the world of training in 1997. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA).
Peter spent 6 years working as a tutor at FTC (now Kaplan Financial), initially in Manchester and later in London. He specialised in the fields of financial reporting and auditing. Peter became a senior manager in the London office. During this time he dedicated much time to marketing, developing and delivering in-house CPD training programmes for corporate and accountancy practice clients.
Since leaving FTC in 2003, Peter has specialised in the provision of training and management development programmes for business professionals, across four main areas: technical courses for accounting professionals, financial analysis, credit skills and soft skills.
Peter specialises in the development and delivery of practical training programmes targeted both at financial professionals and non-finance managers. These range from lectures to audiences of 120+ accountants on new developments in IFRS to workshops for small groups of business managers on practical budgeting.
Peter also specialises in the development and delivery of interpersonal and management skills training programmes. His focus is on developing management capability, client relationship skills, interpersonal and teamworking skills and personal effectiveness throughout a client's organisation.
Peter strives to tailor every programme so that it is firmly grounded the client's business environment, thus helping to ensure that learning can transfer easily to the workplace. He is genuinely passionate about his subjects. He seeks to engage, stimulate, challenge and inspire everyone he trains.
He has recent experience of working with business managers in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Latvia, Oman and Qatar.
