Course Aim
Emotional intelligence training to enable delegates to understand the five branches of emotional intelligence which will increase their ability to control their own emotions and therefore influence the emotions of those around them.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course you will be able to:
Apply the five branches of emotional intelligence:
- Self awareness
- Self regulation
- Motivation
- Empathy
- Social skills
Take responsibility for your emotions and happiness; Stop believing others cause your feelings; Don't expect others to 'make' you happy
Analyse your own feelings rather than the action or motives of other people
Set goals to generate key feelings
Minimise problems caused by negative feelings:
- Defensiveness
- Turnover
- Absenteeism
- Lost work time
- Inefficient communication
- Fear of risk-taking, criticism, judgment and disapproval
- Inefficient problem solving
Content
Course content includes:
How to perceive and identify emotions in faces, tone of voice and body language
Increase your self-awareness: being aware of your own feelings as they are occurring
Emotional literacy. Label and specify feelings in yourself and others, the ability to discuss emotions and communicate clearly and directly
Incorporating feelings into analysis, reasoning, problem solving and decision making
The potential of your feelings and how they guide you to what is important; labelling your feelings, rather than labelling people or situations
Developing leadership with a high EQ; being aware of feelings, not a slave to logic, intellect and reason; making decisions and managing people; reading the non-verbal emotions in others
Identifying and understanding the inter-relationships between emotions, thoughts and behaviour; cause and effect relationships, how thoughts can affect emotions and how emotions can affect thoughts, and how your emotions can lead to specific behaviour in yourself and others
Managing your emotions in the face of invalidating expressions
Exploring gender myths
How the course works
Delegates are given a detailed insight into emotional intelligence by examining their own emotional responses and how they impact on others.
The course enables delegates to use this information to influence the emotions of others, avoiding negatives and the resulting problems.
